OUR STORY
You have successfully implemented a kitchen project that uses kerosene cooking in Mina camps, would you like to talk to us about this project?
After the Royal decision to stop the usage of gas in the sacred Mesha’ar, the idea of cooking using kerosene came about as a result of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and the Central Administration for Project Development’s requests to find a solution for safe cooking without the use of gas and pollutants such as wood, charcoal, and other unsafe traditional methods of cooking. Our Projects department teamed up with Swedish companies, various European companies, other global companies, and certified laboratories to develop and manufacture stoves that work using kerosene as their fuel source to be used for cooking inside the kitchens of the tents in Mesha’ar Mina. After three years of testing under the supervision of the Central Administration for Project Development in the holy sites, the Civil Defense, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the Ministry of Finance, and representatives from Tiwafa companies, and after testing the stoves and ensuring the safety of their usage, we were given the approval to initiate the first stage of the project, which consisted of preparing 200 kitchens, each of them having six kerosene stoves and enough fuel storage to last throughout the Hajj season as a primary trial. After the success of the trial period during Hajj season in 1428H, we were given the approval to initiate the second stage of the project which consisted of 600 kitchens, and God willing, these kitchens will begin to operate this Hajj season.
